Back and forth!

He's known as arguably the biggest pest in the NHL whom just about everyone loathes playing against, but it's no secret that just about any team would gladly take him onto their squad in a heartbeat if possible. Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand has made a career of getting under the skin of opponents, and even taking things too far at times, having earned a number of fines and suspensions.

Meanwhile, fans are also extremely familiar with social media maven and internet personality Steve Dangle, who has made a career delving into the podcast world as well as recording videos of himself giving live analysis during hockey games, with the Toronto Maple Leafs being his key point of focus.

So it certainly wouldn't be beneath either Marchand or Dangle to snipe at one another on social media, right? First, a bit of context.

The foray started when Marchand responded to Phoenix sportswriter Craig Morgan's message on Twitter addressing the tense on-ice situation between Troy Stetcher and Trevor Zegras, in which the latter was thought to have said something derogatory about the former's deceased father:

“I can confirm via the Coyotes that Anaheim forward Trevor Zegras did not say anything about Troy Stecher’s father during their dust-up last night,” Morgan tweeted. “But, per a team source, he crossed the line with ‘some very inappropriate comments.’ Stecher has declined comment on the topic.”

Marchand had this to say in response to Morgan:

Jacob Stoller of The Hockey News was quick to ask Marchand during a recent morning skate about his response, to which is reportedly said:

“Ah, nothing. I read that tweet and that’s what popped in my head so I said it.”

In Stoller's mind, Marchand's reply was "weird". So naturally, Marchand clapped back.

"I’m sorry you didn’t like my answer Jacob, would you like me to say something different so you don’t have something so stupid to hang your career on? Great reporting this am!!" he wrote in response.

Enter Steve Dangle:

And you can bet that Marchand would soon answer:

Folks, who comes out on top in this latest episode of Twitter verbal jousting?
