The Buffalo Sabres and Boston Bruins faced one another on Tuesday night and the game included pretty much everything in a good rivalry, including a brawl breaking loose.

And of course, Bruins’ captain Brad Marchand had to play some part in it.

Early on in the game, the Sabres found themselves trailing 2-0 and a visibly frustrated defenseman Rasmus Dahlin rushed into a board battle with Marchand. The blue liner destroyed the captain, causing all of the Bruins and Sabres players on the ice to come to the defense of their respective stars.

The scrum was buzzing, Dylan Cozens was pulling players off of a helmetless Dahlin, and was quite rough with star forward David Pastrnak as Marchand was looking for revenge. This is what the hit and the ensuing brawl looked like :

Despite everyone getting involved and fists flying, only two players were penalized on the sequence. Cozens was sent to the box, along with Bruins’ defenseman Charlie McAvoy, both with a roughing penalty.

Dahlin’s hit was clean, though it might have fueled Marchand’s frustration and desire to beat the Sabres.

Buffalo might have looked better during the feisty scrum, they couldn’t come out on top when it came to the game. The Sabres got blown on the scoreboard by the Bruins, who won by a score of 5-2.

While Marchand did not get the last laugh against Dahlin and his teammates in that scrum, he ended up with an assist and the W for his Bruins. I guess it probably makes him feel better about Dahlin’s explosive hit near the boards… It was all worth it.
