Brad Marchand has a chance to make NHL history in Game 7.

Brad Marchand has a chance at doing something no NHL player has ever done before tonight.

The Toronto Maple Leafs fan base was left in disbelief and completely devastated at the National Hockey League trade deadline. It wasn't that their team hadn't made the right moves, but rather the fact that somehow, somehow, after years of suffering at the hands of the Boston Bruins, they would once again find Brad Marchand standing in their path to a Stanley Cup championship.

Marchand has been arguably the single biggest thorn in the side of the Maple Leafs over the better part of the last decade and, despite now playing for a new team, the appropriately nicknamed "Leaf Killer" picked up right where he left off in the second round of the 2025 Stanley Cup playoffs.

It was Marchand who prevented the Maple Leafs from taking a 3-0 stranglehold over this series when he buried an overtime winner in Game 3 of the series.

With his team rallying all the way back in this series to now force a Game 7, Marchand will have a chance to claim a rather unique piece of NHL history on Sunday night. Marchand will have the chance to truly cement the "Leaf Killer" nickname in the history books as he would become the first player in the history of the NHL to boast a 5-0 record in Game 7s against a single opponent, the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Marchand appears to have enjoyed tormenting the Maple Leafs over the years and I have no doubt that it is his intention to do so again tonight in Game 7. Whether or not the Maple Leafs get over the hump or Marchand cements his legacy as the "Leaf Killer" will play out before our very eyes in what should be an incredible game.
