Brad Marchand pulls famous quote to get back at Paul Bissonnette

Live, right before the Panthers’ game vs. Detroit.

Brad Marchand may be a star forward in the NHL: the Florida Panthers’ veteran pulled a very popular quote from one of the best goalie in the history of the game.

On Wednesday, ahead of the matchup between the Cats and the Red Wings in Detroit, Marchand was interviewed by the panel on TNT and his chirping back and forth with host Paul Bissonnette picked up right where it was let off last season.

It ended with Marchand quoting Patrick Roy, telling Bissonnette he could not hear him because of his “two Stanley Cup rings plugging my ears”.

Watch the whole interview below, and Marchand’s perfect parting words in the video below:

Patrick Roy’s famous quote is, “I can’t really hear what Jeremy says because I have my two Stanley Cup rings plugging my ears” was said this during a 1996 press conference as a savage comeback to fellow hockey player Jeremy Roenick, who was making disparaging remarks about Roy after a game.

Roenick was frustrated that a penalty was not called against Roy and had complained about the goalie, but Roy’s response was just the best, bringing laughter from the media, implied his two Stanley Cup rings (one with the Montreal Canadiens and one with the Colorado Avalanche) were more important than what Roenick had to say.

I feel that’s how Marchand felt as well when he told Bissonnette off with the same quote.
