Brad Marchand reveals his secret weapon for the playoffs.
Brad Marchand has a secret weapon and it's probably the last thing you would expect.
The Florida Panthers are currently steamrolling the Carolina Hurricanes in the Eastern Conference Final, so much so in fact that it has made the series feel a little flat when compared to the battle we are witnessing between the Dallas Stars and Edmonton Oilers in the Western Conference Final. Nonetheless the games must be played to determine a winner, but you can tell even from the post-game interviews that there is a much different vibe around the Panthers right now than any of the other 3 teams still alive in the 2025 Stanley Cup playoffs.
We saw another sign of that on Saturday night when Panthers veteran forward Brad Marchand conducted a post-game interview with Canadian broadcaster Sportsnet, one that was very light hearted in its tone. Marchand was being interview by Sportsnet's Kyle Bukauskas, when Bukauskas revealed that their cameras had caught Marchand doing something a little unusual during intermission.
The video was played for Marchand who immediately howled with laughter when he saw what was on the screen, and proceeded to reveal his secret formula for powering up during intermissions in the Stanley Cup playoffs.
"Yeah that's a little chocolate chip cookie dough Blizzard right there," admitted Marchand while grinning like a kid with his hand caught in the cookie jar. "You can't beat it, it's the best dessert in the world."
You really got a sense of just how relaxed the Panthers are despite the high stakes with Marchand's next comment however, when Marchand turned the laughter into an opportunity for himself.
"So I better get lifetime free supply of Dairy Queen now," said Marchand looking right into the camera. "Thank you fellas."
Marchand ended it off by giving Dairy Queen one final shout out, again smiling directly into the camera before walking away from the interview.
"DQ baby," said Marchand.
