Brad Marchand reveals what made Artemi Panarin mad.

Marchand tells his version of events.

Things got a little heated between Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand and New York Rangers forward Artemi Panarin, and now we know why.... sort of.

Marchand was asked about the incident immediately following the game and he was more than happy to tell his version of what went down between the pair of National Hockey League stars. According to Marchand, the two men both discussed what they had for Thanksgiving dinner and added that Panarin had become enraged upon learning of Marchand's choice of meal.

"We were just talking about what we had for Thanksgiving dinner," said Marchand before adding "he didn’t like what I ate."

I don't want to impune the character of Brad Marchand here but something tells me that this is him stretching the truth a little bit. Unfortunately we have yet to hear from Panarin himself on the matter, and perhaps we never will.

For those of you who missed the incident, Marchand and Panarin got into something of a heated debate in the final seconds of the third period of today's afternoon game between the Rangers and the Bruins. Each man was standing at the very end of his bench and they were both yelling back and forth at one another while an NHL official stood careful watch between the two.

I don't know what words were exchanged, and like I said I'm not sure I buy Marchand's explanation, but something seemed to set Panarin off. The Rangers forward slowly began to slide the glove off of his left hand before picking it up and throwing it at the Bruins agitator. Panarin had to throw the glove in a way that wouldn't strike the official between them and his aim was true, the glove catching Marchand in the chest despite his best efforts to block it.

I don't believe for a second that it phased Marchand in the least, but you could see that he wasn't too happy about Panarin's actions. If Marchand wants some measure of revenge however he will have to wait until much later in the season, these two teams won't face one another again until the end of April.
