And I wonder how that club’s fanbase will react to the report… More below:
Florida Panthers’ Brad Marchand is currently playing in the Stanley Cup Final, but the offseason is just around the corner and for the veteran forward, it means free agency. The Boston Bruins traded their captain to the Panthers at the March 7 deadline, and with his deal coming to an end, Marchand knows many options are available to him once the season is over. For the past several weeks, the noise is loud on him joining the Toronto Maple Leafs.
You’ve read correctly. I mean when you can’t beat the guy, bring him on your roster!
The Maple Leafs will have to adjust at life without Mitch Marner and Hockey Patrol claims bringing on Marchand on board is just is the perfect outcome for the pesty forward and Toronto:
“Brad Marchand has proven that he is the difference maker in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and for a team struggling so hard to get a true game changer in the postseason; he’s perfect.
“Not only does he fit into the Craig Berube system, but he can still contribute at a high level offensively, plays gritty and nasty, and could be considered one of the most clutch players over the last decade.”
While he is currently focused on the playoffs and potentially hoisting the second Stanley Cup of his career, Marchand is well-aware of the rumours and the ones that are seeing play in Toronto.
“Anything’s on the table,” Marchand told Elliotte Friedman ahead of Game 1. “I’m going to listen to anything. We’ll deal with it when the time comes, and we’ll see what the right fit is.”
Speculation have also linked Marchand back to the Bruins, who will have approximately $25 millions in cap space. It is believe that Marchand could command a $8M annual salary and might get it with many suitors looking to sign him as a free agent.
And you have to admit that signing in Toronto sure makes sense.
