Brad Marchand visibly in pain on Bruins’ bench after brutal collision, leaves game

Uh oh…

It is that time of the year where play goes up a notch and players get banged up, and it is no different for Boston Bruins’ captain Brad Marchand. In the first period of Game 3 of the second round series against the Florida Panthers, Marchand was hit near his team’s bench by Sam Bennett, who just returned to action for the Panthers.

Bennett missed the last three games of that series, and was also out of the lineup in Monday’s Game 1 loss. He was back tonight as Nick Cousins was made a healthy scratch in Boston.

Marchand looked banged up as he winced and spoke with a trainer at the bench.

Next to Marchand was forward Justin Brazeau, who only showed signs of being in pain next to his captain. Marchand only played four minutes and 36 seconds in the first frame, which could be a sign that things aren't right with the gritty forward.

Bennett is coming out with a bang in his first game of the series, and moments after hurting Marchand, he went after none other than David Pastrnak.

Get the bags of ice ready, these players are going to need it in this intense series.

Unfortunately for the Bruins, they only managed to shoot three times at Panthers goalie Sergei Bobrovsky in the first 20 minutes of action.

Then, at the start of the third period, Marchand was missing from the team's bench. The Bruins announced that he was unlikely to return to Game 3 due to an upper body injury.
