Brady Tkachuk appears to get choked out by Radko Gudas during a game!

Nasty attack at the World Championship.

Team USA wanted to move on and when it was trailing 1-0 at the hands of Team Czechia in the quarterfinal match of the 2024 IIHF World Championship, things got nasty.

The play began more physical, especially in front of the net, and after a scuffle in front of the net, things got out of hand between defenseman Radko Gudas and American captain Brady Tkachuk.

The Anaheim Ducks’ blue liner has a reputation in the NHL, and he was going to remain a bruising menace when representing his country. Amidst the chaos in front of the goalie, Gudas was seen pulling and tugging on Tkachuk, choking him in the process in a play that upset many of his American teammates.

This is how the sequence went down:

Tempers flared, but the score remained the same and the Czechs won to move on in the tournament. Much to the despair of Tkachuk, who was quite upset after the game.

“It sucks,” he admitted. “We came here to win gold so it’s tough to react right now.”

Tkachuk collected seven goals in seven tournament games, and the fact that he was Gudas’ target in that final game did not motivate him to record a goal in this crucial contest.

Not sure how the poor Ottawa Senators’ star forward was feeling after he was almost choked out by Gudas… He can be proud to say that he did not look out of breath during that last game on Thursday.
