Brady Tkachuk is now telling his side of the story.
Long time Canadian sportscaster James Duthie made headlines last month when he shared a rather hilarious story regarding Ottawa Senators captain Brady Tkachuk and his fellow Senators teammate, National Hockey League veteran Claude Giroux.
If you missed Duthie's telling of the story, you can check it out just below:
The story exploded on social media with fans from all over the NHL reacting to the hilarious prank and to no one's surprise it eventually got back to Brady Tkachuk himself. Brady has recently started a podcast with his brother, NHL forward Matthew Tkachuk, and on a recent episode Brady decided to clear things up by telling his own version of the story.
Much to Brady's credit, he basically owned up to the whole thing all the while revealing that the prank may not have gone over so well initially.
"There's not much defense for myself," admitted Brady on his podcast.
Brady would basically own up to the entire thing, admitting that he decided to get revenge on Giroux by hacking up his sticks. According to Brady he simply forgot that he had pulled the prank on Giroux until Giroux's sticks kept breaking during a power play for the Senators in a game against the St. Louis Blues, with Brady admitting that he fessed up right away once he realized he had been caught.
Despite his decision to come forward however, it sounds like Giroux didn't take it so well in the moment.
"Finally he came back to the bench... so I got ahead of it like a mature leader that I am and I was like 'Hey G, it was me,'" said Brady. "Immediately his face went straight ahead staring... didn't say a word to me and then after the game he was like 'You're lucky that we won that game because if not I was gonna f***ing kill you.'"
You can hear the full tale of the incident, which according to Brady happened years ago, as well as some additional details in the video below:
