Brady Tkachuk embarrasses himself in front of the entire hockey world... again

If there's one thing Brady Tkachuk has always been good at, it's getting under people's skin. Whether it's stirring up scrums, pestering opponents, or just being that guy everyone loves to hate, the former Ottawa Senators captain has made a career out of being annoying in the best possible way. But his latest moment in the spotlight has nothing to do with on-ice antics and everything to do with a hilariously bad geography gaffe that has the hockey world in stitches.

On a recent episode of the Wingmen podcast, which Brady co-hosts with his brother and Florida Panthers teammate Matthew Tkachuk, the conversation turned to the boos Brady has received across Canada, particularly after helping Team USA capture Olympic gold back in February. Matthew asked his brother whether he got booed in every Canadian city he visited following that gold medal win. Brady's response? Well, let's just say it raised some eyebrows.

"Not in Vancouver. But I was booed pretty good in Edmonton, and I was booed in Calgary. Seattle, nothing. Toronto, I got booed," Brady said.

Yeah. Seattle. You know, that famous Canadian city located in the state of Washington, south of the border from Vancouver. Someone might want to send Brady a map, because after spending eight seasons playing in Canada and wearing the captain's "C" in the nation's capital for five of those years, you'd think the guy would have a handle on basic North American geography by now.

The Boo Rankings and Brady's Love for the Hate

To be somewhat fair to Brady, the Senators had a Western Canada road trip in early March that included stops in Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, and Seattle. So it's possible he was simply rattling off cities from that trip without thinking too hard about which ones were actually north of the 49th parallel. But honestly? It's way more fun to just take it at face value.

Geography aside, Brady did go on to provide his official ranking of the loudest boos he's received from Canadian fans, and it was actually pretty entertaining. Toronto took the top spot, which probably surprises absolutely nobody.

"Toronto was the loudest boo because it was after a scrum and they had me on the Jumbotron, and everybody was booing me," Brady explained. He even hinted that he nearly did "something outrageous" in response but held back because he didn't want to put anyone in a tough position. Neither brother could really articulate what that outrageous act would have been, which somehow makes the whole thing funnier.

Edmonton came in second on the list, with Brady acknowledging they "were giving it to me pretty good." Calgary rounded out the top three, where fans apparently booed him every single time he touched the puck. And through it all, Brady insisted he wouldn't have it any other way. "I love getting booed," he said. "I think it's so funny, it's great. It means you're doing something right."

A Whole New Level of Boos Awaits in Ottawa

As amusing as this geography blunder is, the more interesting storyline heading into next season is the reception Brady is going to get when he returns to Ottawa as a visiting player. The circumstances of his departure from the Senators were far from clean. Reports indicated that locker room issues involving the former captain had worn thin on the team, and Tkachuk eventually forced his way out via trade thanks to his no-trade clause, handing the organization a list of just four teams he'd accept a deal to.

The Senators ultimately shipped him to Florida, reuniting him with Matthew, and received the ninth and 25th overall picks in the 2026 NHL Draft, a conditional first-round pick in 2029 that comes with top-10 protection, and a second-round pick in 2027. Many in the hockey world felt that return was underwhelming for a player of Brady's caliber, and Senators fans have every right to feel shortchanged by the whole situation.

So while Toronto, Edmonton, and Calgary have all given Brady a taste of Canadian hostility, Ottawa might just blow all of them out of the water when the Panthers visit on October 21. If Brady thinks Leafs fans on the Jumbotron were loud, just wait until a building full of scorned Senators supporters gets their chance. That one might need its own tier on the boo ranking. And hey, at least he won't have to worry about whether Ottawa is in Canada.
