The Ottawa Senators have done the unthinkable!
The Ottawa Senators have done the unthinkable.
According to a stunning report from National Hockey League insider Pierre LeBrun, Brady Tkachuk has been traded to the Florida Panthers. The Panthers are of course home of Brady's brother, Matthew Tkachuk.
The details of the trade are not finalized but multiple picks are expected to be coming back the other way.
Brady Tkachuk was initially drafted 4th overall by the Senators at the 2018 NHL Entry Draft and had since gone on to be named captain of the franchise. The fact that Tkachuk wore the "C" for the organization and signed a long term deal will no doubt make this a bitter pill to swallow for fans of the Senators.
Update: The Senators are getting a return of multiple first round picks in this deal.
As per NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, the Senators will recoup 3 first round draft picks and a second round draft pick in this deal. The Senators will get Florida's first round pick at the 2026 NHL draft, the Tampa Bay Lightning's first round pick at the 2026 NHL Draft, Florida's first round pick at the 2029 NHL Draft and Florida's second round pick at the 2030 NHL Draft.
One of the most shocking moves in recent history.
