This does not look good for the Ottawa Senators.

The Senators may have just lost their captain, forward Brady Tkachuk, to injury in what is just their fourth game of the season.

Tkachuk was shaken up just a little over 5 minutes into the first period after a relatively harmless looking bump from Nashville Predators defenseman Roman Josi sent him into the boards at a terrible angle. Thankfully Tkachuk was able to brace himself by getting both his hands up in time, but that may have also led to whatever injury has forced him to leave the ice.

After going down into the boards, Tkachuk skated over Josi to confront him for what was a dangerous hit given the end result and it was after some pushing and shoving with Josi that Tkachuk appeared to suddenly realize he had been hurt. Tkachuk quickly attempted to separate himself from the scrum, all the while holding his right hand away from his body.

After he had separated himself, Tkachuk doubled over in pain and skated off the ice, heading back into the locker room while still favoring his right hand. My first guess would be that this may be some type of hand or wrist injury, but that is only speculation at this time.

Update: Thankfully for the Senators Tkachuk appears to have returned to the bench, here is a look at the full sequence that led to the injury as well as the subsequent scrum:
