The captain of the Ottawa Senators addresses the trade rumors surrounding him on Saturday.

The Ottawa Senators have officially been eliminated from contention in the 2025 Stanley Cup playoffs and on Saturday the players and coaches from that team held their end of season media availability, fielding a variety of questions about their season in front of a gaggle of reporters.

The questions asked at these events are usually fairly typical but on Saturday Ottawa Senators captain Brady Tkachuk was hit with a bit of a curveball. Brady was asked about the rumors of a possible trade that had swirled around him this season, with the Sens captain giving a firm response to that question.

"Obviously it's a lie," said Brady matter-of-factly.

Brady did more than just merely refute the rumor however and instead continued to answer the question, adding that it was his responsibility to tune out that kind of noise during the season.

"It's just not true," added Brady. "I think it's on me if I let that bother me or take me off whatever I'm trying to do. Everybody knows I will do whatever it takes to win and seeing this fan base, this excitement, seeing how much they rallied around us... I know there's gonna be some amazing memories and times down the road."

Brady would once again deny the rumor while adding that he believes everyone in the Senators locker room has bought in and intends to win in Ottawa.

"It's obviously not true," said Brady again. "I wanna play here, I wanna win here I really believe in everybody in this organization and everybody wants to win here."

Brady's brother, Florida Panthers forward Matthew Tkachuk, famously forced a trade out of Calgary before landing in Florida which no doubt has influenced some of the rumors around the younger Tkachuk brother. That being said Brady seemed rather definitive in his answers and appears determined, now more than ever, to win with the Senators.
