Brady Tkachuk gets real about his 'hatred' for his opponents on Sunday.
The rivalry between Team Canada and Team USA may have reached a fever pitch at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games.
These two hockey nations are fresh off of a thrilling clash in the final of the National Hockey League's Four Nations Face-Off and are now set to face one another once again on Sunday in what will be this Olympic tournaments Gold Medal game.
The rivalry has arguably never been hotter but, if there is any doubt in your mind, today's comments from Brady Tkachuk may be the thing that convinces you if you're still on the fence about it. Speaking with ESPN, Tkachuk made it clear that this game means everything to the players on the American side of the ice.
"There's hatred there," admitted Tkachuk on Saturday as per ESPN. "They've been the top dog, they've been the best for the last bunch of years and for us, we wanna be in that position. We wanna be the best. It's gonna be a game where a lot of guys can say this is the biggest game they've ever played."
Both Canada and the United States of America have managed to avoid one another throughout this tournament thus far but I suspect that in the back of everyone's mind from both those countries, fans and players alike, there was a hope that we would see a rematch of the Four Nations Face-Off final in the Gold Medal game.
We are now just hours away from it becoming a reality and, if Brady Tkachuk's comments are any indication, the intensity in this one will be through the roof.
