Let it be known, Brandon Prust isn't wasting any time getting involved in the heated rivalry between the Vancouver Canucks and Boston Bruins.
The Canucks' antagonist joked after practice on Sunday that the $5,000 fine he received from the NHL's Department of Player Safety for spearing Boston pest Brad Marchand in the groin was the "best money I ever spent." Prust was given a 10-minute misconduct for the cheap-shot.
"I thought that's what would happen," he added, when reporters asked if he took issue with the sanction. "It wasn't that hard, and he sold it pretty good. I saw him laughing on the bench after, so I don't think he's too hurt."
Prust explained that Marchand has built a reputation for himself in the league, and that this was no random act. Marchand clearly did something to get under Prust's skin.
“I think [Marchand] does that every night,” Prust said. “Sometimes you want to do it back, right? Just heat of the moment.”
The Bruins' 4-0 win was one of their most impressive games of the season. Look for the two to renew their rivalry next month when the Canucks' visit the Bruins at TD Garden.
