The Columbus Blue Jackets have announced a very interesting signing on Friday night.

According to an official report from the National Hockey League's website, the Blue Jackets have signed 23-year-old goaltender Joonas Korpisalo to a new contract, one that will cover the next two seasons in the NHL.

The move was later confirmed by the Columbus blue Jackets' public relations department, and while the signing may not initially seem all that notable, this likely means that Korpisalo will be exposed in the expansion draft to the Las Vegas Golden Knights.

That of course does not mean he will be selected, but it does provide an early hint at what Columbus' protection list might look like.
