Breaking: 9 teams spotted scouting the Leafs tonight.

It seems like a lot of eyes in the National Hockey League this evening are focused in on one game in particular. This leads one to believe that one of the two team's involved in the contest may still have some wheeling and dealing left to do ahead of the 2019 National Hockey League trade deadline.

According to a report from David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period there are no less than 9 teams currently scouting the Saturday night match up between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Pittsburgh Penguins. This is a very interesting development not only because these are two high profile teams that are expected to make the post season but also because both teams have recently orchestrated significant trades in their own right.

The Toronto Maple Leafs just recently acquired veteran defensmean Jake Muzzin from the Los Angeles Kings at a relatively hefty price and on the other side of the equation the Penguins pulled off a rather surprising move with the Florida Panthers that netted them both forwards Nick Bjugstad and Jared McCann. Both of these moves were rather significant in their own right and the fact that either of these teams could be lining up for another big trade ahead of the deadline could have very significant player implications for both of these organizations.

As for the teams scouting the Penguins and the Leafs? Well this would also appear to reinforce the fact that either the Leafs or the Penguins are looking to add big before the deadline given that all the teams scouting them, with perhaps on notable exception, are currently being viewed as potential sellers. According to Pagnatto the teams taking in tonight's game are the St. Louis Blues, Montreal Canadiens, New York Islanders, Anaheim Ducks, Ottawa Senators, Philadelphia Flyers, Arizona Coyotes, Carolina Hurricanes and Florida Panthers.

It's no secret that several of these teams have been looking to unload significant assets and both the Penguins' and Leafs' fan bases are no doubt foaming at the mouth at the thought of some of the players who could be on the move. Could either of these teams land the coveted Wayne Simmonds from the Flyers? How about Brayden Schenn from the Blues? Only time will tell which of these two teams pulls of another significant deal before the deadline.
