Breaking: Alex Ovechkin ties an incredible NHL record.

While there will certainly be those who point to his lack of playoff success, after Tuesday night in the National Hockey League it's going to be hard to argue against the fact  that Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin is clutch player.

Ovechkin put himself in an elite company of just two men when he scored the overtime winner to give his Capitals a hard fought 6-5 win over a Toronto Maple Leafs team that showed up to play at the Verizon Center.

It was the 19th overtime goal of his NHL career a feat that according to the Washington Capitals public relations department is only matched by NHL living legend Jaromir Jagr. 

Neither man seems to be done with hockey so this is one record we might see swing back and forth in the near future.
