BREAKING: Anaheim Ducks TOP forward “takes it personal” playing against McDavid.
KEYSTONE PRESS

The Edmonton Oilers are set to take on the Anaheim Ducks in their first game of their first Second Round Playoffs series since 2006 after, arguably, upsetting the seasoned San Jose Sharks in six games.

Edmonton’s stars shone brightest and gave the Oilers the push they needed to advance, something the Anaheim Ducks will be looking to avoid.

The players who will likely be tasked with bringing Connor McDavid back down to earth spoke out about their lofty task.

Ryan Kesler will more than likely be McDavid’s shadow whenever the rookie phenom hits the ice.

“It’s not me against McDavid,” Kesler clarified, “It’s the Anaheim Ducks against the Edmonton Oilers”.

Long-time teammate and Ducks defenseman Kevin Bieksa had some insight into the upcoming Kesler vs McDavid duel saying:

Kes takes it personally when he plays against the top players. He’s just very competitive. He has the will. I keep hearing he gets inside people’s heads but I just think you do that by outplaying them”.

McDavid himself is pretty familiar with Kesler and respects the man who’ll be in charge of keeping him off the highlight reel.

“He’s been up for the Selke for how many years in a row? That obviously speaks for itself,” McDavid said of Kesler, “He obviously understands his defensive role”.

The Oilers will take on the Ducks in Game 1 on their Second Round Series in Anaheim tonight, Wednesday April 26th.
