The Montreal Canadiens have announced earlier today that long-time defenseman Andrei Markov would officially not return to the team next season. Habs fans were absolutely shocked to know both parties decided to part ways, since the 38-year-old was a fan favorite.
KHL insider Aivis Kalnins has confirmed Markov will play for the AkBars Kazan:
We have no idea what kind of deal Markov will be signing with the KHL team, since the financial details have yet to be revealed.
Markov proved he could still be reliable for Montreal last season, as he recorded 36 points in 62 games. He amassed 119 goals and 453 assists for 572 points in 990 career NHL games with the Habs.
