Breaking: Another buy-out for former 30 goal scorer

The Florida Panthers have announced that they’ve placed veteran forward Jussi Jokinen on unconditional waivers for the purposes of a contract buy-out.

The former 30 goal scorer put up just 11 goals and 28 points in 69 games with the Panthers last year. His four year, $16 million agreement was set to end at the end of 2017-18, but with the buy out he’ll become an unrestricted free agent and enter the open market tomorrow afternoon.

The buy-out saves the Panthers $2.7 million in cap relief for 2017-18 and helps them get closer to their reported goal of slashing $10 million in annual salary.
