Caps are forced to make an emergency recall ahead of tonight's match.
The Washington Capitals join an increasingly long list of teams dealing with a major injury bug early in this 2017-18 season. Already without Matt Niskanen, who was placed on LTIR, Andre Burakovsky, who required surgery to repair a broken thumb, and Brett Connolly, who left the game against the Vancouver Canucks and didn't return - the Caps will now have to deal with yet another injury.
Tyler Graovac will miss at least a week of action after suffering an upper-body injury. Along with Nicklas Backstrom who has already missed a game due to illness and is listed day-to-day, this leaves the team without as many as four forwards.
Anthony Peluso was called up in anticipation of the team's game against the Edmonton Oilers - clearly showing a preference for grit against a physical opponent.
Peluso has 382 penalty minutes in 205 AHL games.
