Breaking: Another number one goaltender goes down to injury.

The rash of injuries to National Hockey League goaltenders continues.

According to a breaking news report from Nashville Predators' head coach Peter Laviolette the team has lost their number one goaltender Pekka Rinne to injury. As is often the case the head coach was pretty tight lipped about the nature of the injury, merely stating that it was an "upper-body injury" and adding that Rinne is currently listed as day to day.

Rinne has not played up to his regular level to start the season, but nonetheless he remains the Predators workhorse with 12 games played for Nashville already this season, and his loss will be felt especially if it's for the long-term.

The sheer number of injuries to goaltenders in the NHL have resulted in teams like the Senators and the Islanders putting their goaltenders on the trade market, and an injury to Rinne could further drive up the need for goaltending help on the trade market.
