The Los Angeles Kings have announced that they’ve placed goalie Jack Campbell on waivers. If Campbell goes unclaimed he’ll report to the AHL’s Ontario Reign for the 2017-18 season.
The former top goaltending prospect was selected 11th overall by the Dallas Stars in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. Since then he has only managed two NHL games with the Stars. He was acquired by the Kings last season for forward Nick Ebert. At 25-years-old it looks like Campbell may never reach the lofty expectations set out for him seven years ago.
Last season, he played 52 games with the Ontario Reign, and registered good numbers. He won 31 games, lost 15, while registering a goals-against-average of 2.52 and a save percentage of .914. The Kings will trust Darcy Kuemper for the backup goalie role behind Jonathan Quick.
