Breaking: Berra's fate on waivers is revealed
This is pretty shocking, all things considered.

Friday at noon, veteran goaltender Reto Berra was placed on waivers. The Anaheim Ducks had him stringing along as the backup to John Gibson as Ryan Miller recovered from injury, but with the latter finally back in action, Berra was relegated to the waiver wire.
His waiver status was updated today.
Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman made the quick announcement and it comes as a shock because there's a team in clear need of a healthy NHL goaltender right now - the Vegas Golden Knights. They are currently riding fourth and fifth string goalies and are starting to lose games.
It's widely believed that general manager George McPhee doesn't care too much about the success of the team this year, rather, opting to fill the cupboard with talented prospects in this year's deep draft.
The fact that he didn't claim Berra speaks volumes about his intentions for the year. It would've been a cheap low-risk acquisition that could've stabilized the team while it awaits the return of Marc-Andre Fleury, Malcolm Subban, and Oscar Dansk.
Of course - there's the minute possibility that McPhee trades for Berra now that he's cleared waivers, much like how he traded Calvin Pickard earlier this season.
