Minnesota Wild veteran forward Matt Cullen is celebrating his 41st birthday and 1,500th game in the NHL tonight against the Montreal Canadiens, and he's doing it in style.

He opened the scoring to make it 1-0, scoring on Carey Price, and later set up Tyler Ennis on a 2-on-1 play to put his team ahead by a score of 3-0.

His goal and assist have set a record for the US-born player.

Cullen began his career on this day in 1998, and he started strong.

The birthday boy was drafted in the second round back in 1996 by the Anaheim Mighty Ducks, and has since played in Florida, Carolina, New York, Ottawa, Minnesota, Nashville, Pittsburgh - and is now in his second stint with the Wild.

Cullen has won three Stanley Cups throughout his lengthy career.
