Breaking: Blackhawks add three veterans on PTO deals

The Chicago Blackhawks have released their official roster for the opening of their training camp in Chicago this week and, while the addition of former Buffalo Sabres defenseman Cody Franson on a professional tryout contract was announced last week, the additions of three other NHl veterans weren’t known until this morning. Those three new potential Blackhawks? Mark Stuart, John Mitchell and Drew Miller. 

Stuart was recently bought-out by the Winnipeg Jets after spending six seasons patrolling their blue line. The 33-year-old will now attempt to revive his career with the Hawks in training camp.

Mitchell, a 32-year-old forward, has spent the past five seasons with the Colorado Avalanche and has played over 500 NHL games split between the Avs, New York Rangers and Toronto Maple Leafs. He managed just three goals and seven points in 65 games for the lowly Avs last season.

Miller, brother of Anaheim Ducks goaltender Ryan Miller, is a 33-year-old forward whop played just 55 games last season with the Detroit Red Wings.  Miller has been a mainstay on the Wings roster the past eight seasons, and has managed 571 games over his 11 year pro career.
