The St. Louis Blues told fans not to rule them out of the Stanley Cup final after losing the first game of the series 4-2 at the hands of the Boston Bruins on Monday night.

However, this latest blow might make it hard for fans to be convinced they can do better in Game 2 tonight.

According to Blues insider Jeremy Rutherford, rookie forward Robert Thomas is not expected to be able to play tonight in Boston.

Thomas was the victim of a monstrous hit by a helmet-less Bruins defenseman Torey Krug on Monday. The check is one of the key moments of the first contest of the intense series. The blue liner was not penalized on what many believed to be a charging play.

The hit took place in the last moments of the game, and so, an injury on Thomas might have been noticed just after the contest.

And it seems to be lingering or serious enough to keep him out of Game 2…
