Breaking: Bob McKenzie confirms NHL team is trying to make a goalie trade.

TSN insider Bob McKenzie has just confirmed that a National Hockey League franchise is seriously looking to make a trade.

According to McKenzie following the injury to veteran goaltender Roberto Luongo, the Florida Panthers are looking to add an experienced backup to their lineup, and the only way to do that is with a trade.

McKenzie reports that the Panthers are looking for a trade as a result of the injury, but also because they are hoping to find a younger goalie to play a full-time backup role behind Luongo. It doesn't sound like the Panthers will look to add a goalie for the sake of adding him, but instead will be looking to make a significant trade for a quality netminder.

This news could very well impact two other NHL organizations as well however. Both the Pittsburgh Penguins, who lost goaltender Matt Murray to injury, and the Edmonton Oilers, who lost goaltender Cam Talbot to injury, have also been shopping for another goaltender.

Florida entering the goalie market will not only drive up the price on potential trades for both the Oilers and the Penguins, but the team that pulls the trigger first may also end up being the team that gets the best backup goaltender available.

Stay tuned because it sounds like a trade could be happening very soon.
