This just in, according to a report from former NHLer turned radio host Georges Laraque veteran forward Derik Brassard has agreed to terms on a one year deal with the Edmonton Oilers.

Check it out:

No official word from the Oilers or from Brassard just yet, but multiple online outlets have picked up Laraque’s report and are now reporting that Brassard is expected to sign with the team at some point this week.

Brassard, 31 years old, was one of the NHL’s most prized forwards on the trade market just two seasons ago. You may recall the confusion that surrounded his trade from the Ottawa Senators to the Pittsburgh Penguins when it was reported and then retracted that Brassard had been traded to the Vegas Golden Knights. For whatever reason Brassard never really hit his stride with the Penguins and was traded to the Florida Panthers, then the Colorado Avalanche last season. In total, Brassard has played for four different teams the past four seasons.

The former 6th overall pick in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft scored just 13 goals and 23 points in 70 games split between the Penguins, Panthers and Avalanche last season.
