As the years go by, legends of the sport sadly pass away and new players take their places carrying the sport. It's always sad to see a piece of history leave us, whatever their age.

The Flyers announced this morning that former goalie and scout Marcel Pelletier died at 89 years old on Saturday.

It was only announced this morning out of respect to the family. Pelletier played 8 games in the NHL but a lot more in the WHL back in the 50's and the 60's. He then had a successful career in managing NHL teams, especially the Flyers. He was a big part of the team rebuilding effort in the late '60s and early '70s, working hand in hand with GM Keith Allen. He had a successful scouting career and was known for his skill at managing prospects development.

We offer our deepest condolences to the family and friends of mister Pelletier.
