Breaking: Bruins' key defenseman out several weeks

We've been reporting all day on various Boston Bruins injuries, and injury scares.

Well now we have another one.

Adam McQuaid took a hard shot to the leg and left the game early against the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday night. The 6-3 win was overshadowed by the loss of McQuaid and David Krejci, as well as the crushing hit on Frank Vatrano that nearly took him out of the game too.

Fortunately, Krejci should be okay for Saturday, as should Vatrano. Patrice Bergeron, who missed practice today, is also expected to play Saturday.

Nonetheless, this is a big blow to the Bruins, who are dealing with recent injuries to Tuukka Rask and Ryan Spooner.

Thankfully David Backes returned yesterday - the hospital wing is beginning to get overcrowded.
