The Boston Bruins had a bit of a scare in practice this morning. Defensive cornerstone David Krejci was forced to leave early due to and upper-body injury.

Fortunately, after the practice head coach Bruce Cassidy said “I believe he’ll be fine tomorrow”, meaning Krejci is still expected to dress for Boston’s next game against the Nashville Predators on Tuesday.

It’s a good thing too, because the Bruins are feeling the heat as they try to hold on to the last open spot in the Eastern Conference’s playoff race. Boston holds onto the 8th and final wildcard spot with a 39-39-6 record worth 84 points. The Islanders, Lightning and Carolina are all within five points of the bruins, with at least a game in hand.

This is the time of year when the Bruins needs their best players to be their best players, and losing Krejci would be a struggle the boys in Beantown could do without.

Boston snapped a four-game losing streak with a critical win over the New York Islanders on Saturday, notable for their choice in the goal crease.

Tuukka Rask sat out the game in favour of Anton Khudobin, who turned in a great performance letting in a single goal on 18 shots.

Rask had this say on his benching: “You gotta put the best lineup out possible and I wasn’t in shape to play”

It’s worth noting that Rask is listed as day-to-day with a lower-body injury, but he is still expected to start on Tuesday.

Rask was in net during Boston’s recent struggles, but still has 2.38 GGA and a save percentage of .910 in 59 games this season.
