Breaking: Bruins make emergency AHL call-up
Keystone Press

Boston Bruins GM Don Sweeney has announced that the team has recalled goaltender Zane McIntyre for the Providence Bruins on an emergency basis. He’s expected to backup incumbent starter Anton Khudobin tomorrow against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

McIntyre, who has compiled a 4-1-0 record with a 1.81 GAA in five games with the baby Bruins this season. The 25-year-old goaltender has looked solid this season and could get his first taste of NHL action next week.

Of course, McIntyre’s opportunity comes at the expense of B’s regular starter Tuukka Rask who was injured in practice earlier this month in a collision with teammate Anders Bjork. While Rask looked to be on the road to recovery and had even participated with the team in practice, McIntyre’s emergency call up may indicate that Rask needs more time to recover from a suspected concussion.
