Bruins Optional Skate

The Bruins are trailing in round one of the Stanley Cup playoffs.  Tonight’s game is Boston is extremely important if the Bruins do not want to return to Ottawa facing elimination.  Though the game tonight is crucial, Bruce Cassidy decided that this mornings skate was optional.

Bruins players showed lot of leadership this morning as many players did'nt take the optional and showed up at the ice rink.

An optional practice is definitely one way to give players some much needed rest.  Nonetheless, Mike Loftus confirmed that it was well attended.  Among those who did not participate were: Tuukka Rask, Zdeno Chara and Kevan Miller.  These veteran players took advantage of the optional practice and choose to rest up for tonight’s game.  This is also beneficial to the rookies who attended practice and got some extra one-on-one time with the coaches.

Good news is that Colin Miller was on the ice.  C. Miller suffered a lower body injury but the fact that he is back on the ice is motivating.  He could very well be a game time decision.
