The Vancouver Canucks have called up goaltender Thatcher Demko from the Utica Comets (AHL), the team announced on Saturday. He'll join the team as they take on the back-to-back Stanley Cup champions Pittsburgh Penguins tonight.

Demko, 21, was drafted 36th overall by the Canucks in 2014. He played his first season as a professional last season, and he did quite well. He played in 45 games, and had a record of 22-17-1, with a 2.68 goals-against-average and a .907 save percentage.

So far this season in the AHL, the San Diego, California native had a record of 4-2-1, with a 1.85 goals-against-average and a .939 save percentage.
