Vancouver Canucks prospect Cole Candella who was among the team’s preseason cuts earlier this week, has been traded in the OHL from the Hamilton Bulldogs to the Sudbury Wolves.
Drafted by the Canucks in the 5th round (140th overall) in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, the 19-year-old defenseman will be headed to Sudbury for the 2017-18 season, with four picks heading back to Hamilton in return. In 65 games with the Bulldogs last season, the 6’1”, 296 lb blue liner put up a respectable three goals and 20 points.
Look for Candella to make a big leap this upcoming season, his final year in junior. He’ll be a candidate to make the Canucks in training camp next season if he can put together a good campaign.
