Breaking: Canucks provide critical update on Tanev's injury

The Vancouver Canucks issued an update on the status of top defenseman Chris Tanev, after he unexpectedly travelled back home before the team's game against the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday night.

The good news here is that surgery isn't required - he could've been out for a month or 2 if that scenario played out. The bad news is that he will still be out for multiple weeks.

Their showing in Anaheim was lacklustre, despite the return of Alex Edler after an extended absence.

The Canucks will be in tough to maintain their strong record without Tanev's services.
