Breaking: Canucks recall defenseman Schenn as injuries pill up
Twitter

With blue liner Chris Tanev landing on injured reserve with a leg injury, the Vancouver Canucks have summoned the services of another defenseman ahead of Saturday's game against the San Jose Sharks. The team has announced that they have recalled defenseman Luke Schenn from the Utica Comets in the AHL.

Last month, the Canucks traded defenseman Michael Del Zotto to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for  Schenn and a 2020 seventh-round draft pick.

While Schenn could end up being a healthy scratch, he might also star in his first contest with Vancouver.

The 29-year-old veteran blue liner has spent the majority of the 2018-19 with the Ducks’ AHL affiliate in San Diego, where he has registered two goals and 10 points in 22 games. He started the season with Anaheim, logging eight games with the NHL club before being placed on waivers.

Schenn’s NHL career started with the Toronto Maple Leafs, where he played for four seasons before heading to Philadelphia. In 716 career NHL games with the Maple Leafs, Flyers, Los Angeles Kings, Arizona Coyotes and Ducks, Schenn has scored 30 goals and added 113 assists.
