Washington Capitals Andre Burakovsky will miss six to eight weeks of action as he had surgery on his left thumb. The Russian forward injured his hand during last Saturday's game against the Florida Panthers.
Burakovsky, 22, injured his right hand last season, which made him miss 15 games.
Washington drafted him 23rd overall in 2013. In 205 NHL games, he registered 99 points. In five games this season, Burakovsky had four points in nine games.
