We want to talk to you about the Washington Capitals' blueline but the question is more : which blueline? The Caps lost Karl Alzner, Nate Schmidt and Kevin Shattenkirk over the summer, and now their best defenseman Matt Niskanen is on the long term injury reserve with an upper-body ailment.

According to TSN Insider Pierre LeBrun, the Capitals are looking around the trade market to find a solution to their defensive woes.

"They're pretty thin right now and they are playing some kids, who really probably should be in the American Hockey League right now," explained LeBrun on Insider Trading.

"They are high on them but they did not want to rush them... Absolutely, I believe the Caps are looking around. And by the way, we know there's a team that has defensemen to sell, and that the Vegas Golden Knights!"

The Knights still have too many defenders on their roster and are looking to ship a few out within the coming weeks, so the Caps will surely go shopping in Sin City.

The Los Angeles Kings are reportedly looking for some help up front, and have talked about the possibility of trading top-4 defensemen Alec Martinez and Jake Muzzin, who the Capitals might want to consider.

But most importantly, they'll want to do it fast!
