Breaking: Cassidy makes surprise goaltending decision
Keystone Press

In a surprise decision, Boston Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy has announced that Tuukka Rask will start in goal tonight against the league-leading Tampa Bay Lightning.

Rask has been in and out of the lineup with injuries this season, but when he’s been in he’s been roundly outperformed by backup Anton Khudobin. In fact, Khudobin has yet to lose a game in regulation this season and is among the league-leaders in nearly every goaltending statistic.

Bruins fans who have been clamoring for Khudobin to get the full-time job over Rask won’t be happy with Cassidy’s decision, but the B’s head coach is in a tough spot. No one is denying’s Rask’s past accomplishments, the former Vezina Trophy winning goaltender is still a top talent in the NHL, but clearly he’s not playing at his best right now.

Regardless, it looks like he’ll be given a shot to work through whatever ails him right now.
