It's hard to find a team that has suffered as much as the Detroit Red Wings have this season with injuries. Many players have been hurt, including Thomas Vanek, Jimmy Howard, Andreas Athanasiou, Tyler Bertuzzi, Brendan Smith, and Justin Abdelkader.

Moments ago, 24-year-old defenseman Alexey Marchenko spoke to reporters and informed them that his shoulder injury has recovered quite well and that he should be set to return to the Red Wings' lineup. He will be a welcomed addition to a team that has struggled more often than not, and he should feature tomorrow night against the Columbus Blue Jackets or potentially on Sunday, when Detroit takes on the Philadelphia Flyers at the Joe Louis Arena:

While he has not officially been cleared to play, Marchenko believes he will be within a few hours or a few days.

It's safe to assume that once he returns to the lineup, Brian Lashoff will be sent back down to the Grand Rapids Griffins.
