Breaking: Detroit Red Wings sign a 23-year-old forward!
Keystone Press

The Detroit Red Wings have announced the signing of forward Martin Frk. The 23-year-old winger agreed to the terms of a one-year, two-way contract, worth $650,000 in the NHL and $250,000 if he plays in the AHL.

The Wings have confirmed the news on their official Twitter account:

Frk was selected in the second round of the 2012 NHL draft by Detroit. However, he was waived before the start of the 2016-17 season, and played two games with the Carolina Hurricanes. He was then claimed by the Red Wings again, and was sent to the AHL, with the Grand Rapids Griffins.

Frk played 65 regular season games with Detroit's farm club, in which he recorded 27 goals for the second straight season, and a career-high 50 points. He also added 15 points in 16 playoff games.
