Breaking: Disastrous news for Dubnyk and the Wild.
Keystone Press

One of the National Hockey League's best goalies has been seriously injured.

On Tuesday night Minnesota Wild goaltender Devan Dubnyk suddenly vanished between the first and second period of the Wild's match up against the Calgary Flames. It was strange because Dubnyk finished the period and suddenly wasn't even on the bench for the start of the second.

Today Wild insider Mike Russo has revealed that Dubnyk suffered a major injury in the first 5 minutes of the first period, crazy considering that as mentioned before Dubnyk finished the period.

Unfortunately the injury to Dubnyk is a significant one and, while the team itself hasn't confirmed anything officially, Russo's sources indicate he will be out a long time. From The Athletic:

Wild goaltender Devan Dubnyk is week-to-week with what sources say is a strained medial collateral ligament in one of his knees.

Devastating news for the Wild, and news that is likely to leave fans wondering if things were made worse by Dubnyk staying in the game for 15 minutes after being badly injured.
