The Edmonton Oilers may be facing a really, really big problem.

While there's no doubt that the Oilers will sign both Leon Draisaitl and superstar forward Connor McDavid this summer, the cost of both signings may have a drastic impact on the franchise moving forward, and not in a good way.

TSN's Ryan Rishaug is now reporting that the camp of Leon Draisaitl is playing hardball with the Oilers, and furthermore Rishaug has hinted at the fact that it may be due to the Oilers decision to send Draisaitl back down in his first year, and preventing him from earning a year towards unrestricted free agency.

So what does that mean? According to Rishaug Draisaitl is now looking for a contract that will be him a whopping $9 million per season, instantly making him one of the top earns in the league, and furthermore that he's looking for a monster 8-year contract term as well.

While that may seem reasonably to many, after all Draisaitl has demonstrated that he is an incredible talent, that would have the Oilers investing over $21.5 million per season in just two players if the rumors surrounding Draisaitl and McDavid are accurate.

In fact another voice at TSN, Gord Miller, has described the situation as one that would leave the Oilers with "enormousness depth issues."
