It appears that we have at least one big trade set for some time later today.

According to a report from TSN National Hockey League insider Darren Dreger this is "Dzingel day in Ottawa," which would appear to indicate that the NHL insider fully expects Ottawa Senators forward Ryan Dzingel will be moved at some point today. There have been persistent rumors around 3 of the Senators forwards as the deadline has drawn near and with now former Ottawa Senators forward Matt Duchene already sent pack on his way in a trade with the Columbus Blue Jackets, some believe the writing is on the wall for both the aforementioned Dzingel and teammate Mark Stone.

For fans of the Senators this may seem like another disappointment initially but it appears that the Senators will continue to stockpile quality prospects and draft picks on their way to what they hope will be a successful rebuild of their roster. Dreger believes that the Senators will net a solid return for Dzingel which would make sense given the level of interest he is alleged to have drawn from teams around the National Hockey League.

"Senators will get and should get quality return. Hard to say what it is...ranging for multiple picks to a top prospect," wrote Dreger.

Dzingel is in the midst of a career best season so it should come as no surprise that the Senators would be asking a pretty penny for his services. In just 57 games played this season he is now just 1 goal away from tying his career best of 23 goals, has already surpassed his career best of 18 assists by a margin of 4(22), and has already eclipsed his career best for points in a season by  a margin of 3(44). The question is of course whether or not he will be able to replicate those numbers in the post season, or with line mates not named Duchene and Stone.

As for what teams might be interested in the talented young forward? Well we have some indication of that as well as Dreger named both the Boston Bruins and the Columbus Blue Jackets as teams who are "among the suitors" that have shown interest in the Senators forward.
