Breaking: Five players hit the waiver wire, including 3 former top prospects

As the NHL regular season gets underway today, teams are making their final lineup preparations. This includes, of course, demoting players to the AHL and passing through waivers along the way. Recently some big names have hit the waiver wire, including Malcolm Subban and Matt Read. Today, five players hit the waiver wire, including three former top prospects:

At one point in time, Joe Colborne, Eric Tangradi and Patrick Weircioch were all thought to be young, impact players. Now, it appears they’re headed for the AHL to play out the rest of their careers. Brandon Pirri is also a former 20 goal scorer.
