Breaking: Flames acquire rights to RFA forward in minor trade.

Earlier today TVA Sports' Renaud Lavoie predicted this very move from the Senators.

The Senators have announced that they have dealt the rights to restricted free agent forward Alex Chiasson to the Calgary Flames,  going back the other way is defenseman Patrick Sieloff. 

For the Flames they acquire the rights to a big forward who's performance has steadily declined over the past few seasons in Ottawa, perhaps they believe they can help him turn it around.

For the Senators the acquisition of Sieloff appears to simply be a means to an end, that of course being riding themselves of Chiasson. It seems likely that Sieloff will spend another season in the American Hockey League effectively freeing up a roster spot for Ottawa.
